Have that conversation – don’t suffer in silence

Here at the Sure Group we are urging all our workers and everyone we work with to take their mental health seriously.

Today is World Mental Health Day, an opportunity for all of us to raise awareness of mental health issues and advocate against social stigma.

Support is always available and we actively urge our staff and everyone who we work with to speak out. There is no weakness if you’re struggling, but there is courage to talk about how you feel.

The theme of this year’s event is suicide and suicide prevention, with figures released revealing every year close to 800,000 people globally take their own life, with many more attempting suicide.

Will Draper, the Commercial and Healthcare Director at the Sure Group, said: “Mental health should be treated as seriously as physical health. We take it very seriously across the Sure Group and hope all our staff and the people we work with have the courage to speak out if they are struggling, not just today, but any day.

“We are working hard to raise the overall understanding of mental health and a key part of that is to address the stigma around suicide so as to support those who might most need help.

“There is nothing wrong if you are struggling and it isn’t a sign of weakness. Life can be hard at times, but it can be made easier by starting that conversation and not trying to tackle it alone.”
